The Town has a wide range of high quality Restaurants, Bars, Cafes and Takeaways to choose from. For such a small town there really is an excellent choice of establishments. Below you will find what we think is the best Alnwick has to offer and our "must visit' places are highlighted in red. Pubs and Restaurants

Di Sopra Ristorante 9-13 Bondgate Within, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 606540

Established in 2015 when Valentina took over the restaurant from her Uncle Roberto, Di Sopra have established a reputation for great quality Italian cuisine, being especially good if you are part of a group or have a young family. Caffe Tirreno Bondgate Without, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 605455

Although it's a close call this is our favourite Italian restaurant in Alnwick and we are regular visitors! Located opposite the Playhouse and in full view of the Bondgate tower it is ideal for a meal before a show or cinema screening. Incredible pizzas, pasta and daily specials with the most friendly welcome you could ask for! Don't leave without trying their panna cotta dessert! As you would expect Caffe Tirreno is very popular and they only accept walk ins so you can't book in advance.

Sher Khan The Marketplace, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 605550

Relatively new to the Alnwick dining scene and located where Louis Steakhouse and Mivesi once was, Sher Khan has quickly become a favourite in a great central location. Beautifully presented, modern Indian food is what you'll find here along with a friendly and warm welcome. Mumbai Flavours (Pictured above) Fenkle Street, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 606234

Recently voted Indian Restaurant of the Year and a winner of many national awards, Mumbai Flavours is our "go to" restaurant in Alnwick when we have friends visiting. The family have over 50 years experience running Indian restaurants in the North-East and it shows! Always friendly, always efficient and always delicious! Lilburns Bar and Restaurant 7 Paikes Street, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 603 444

Lilburns is a fully licensed, family run bar and restaurant on a quaint pedestrianised side street connecting the Marketplace and Bondgate Within. Treehouse Restaurant The Alnwick Garden, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 665320

The Treehouse Restaurant is not your average place to eat, but if you're looking for a dining experience with a difference then look no further. The restaurant is set within the world's largest Treehouse, one of the Alnwick Garden's many attractions. There is a large roaring fire in the centre of the room and many trees growing through the floors, which is certainly a talking point. You do not need to have paid entrance to the Garden in order to dine at the Treehouse, however booking is recommended at peak times. The Dirty Bottles (Pictured above) Narrowgate, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 606193

The Dirty Bottles is a hugely successful pub and restaruant located in the popular Narrowgate area of Alnwick. Famous for its incredible in-house smoked meats we highly recommend a selection from the smokehouse! Burgers and popular pub favourites are also a winner here. There's an outdoor terrace for drinks and cocktails when the weather allows and it's dog friendly too! Adam and Eve 3 Clayport Street, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 517330

Adam and Eve is a modern bistro style restaurant proudly offering "Farm to Table" menus. The locally sourced concept is a clear winner as Northumberland has some of the finest ingredients to be found. Great cocktails and one of the best Sunday lunches in the Town. Sonnet 41 Bondgate Without, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 517 628

Alnwick's newest fine dining restaurant is a very welcome addition to the town's offering. Located just opposite the Playhouse, Sonnet serves only a 14-course tasting menu focused on the best quality ingredients, with the emphasis being on simplicity. Created by talented chef Gary McDermott and Claudia Mazareanu, Sonnet offers a wonderful food journey throughout the year with a seperate lunch menu also available. Visit Sonnet's website...

The Cookie Jar (Pictured above) Bailiffgate, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 510465

Now I may admit to being a little biased about the Cookie Jar, we love this place so much that we had our wedding reception here in the Bistro. Located at the back of the Cookie Jar boutique hotel, the Bistro overlooks their beautiful garden and sits just a few doors along from Alnwick Castle. The food here is on the fine dining end of the spectrum, is always beautifully presented and I still maintain is the best meal that you'll find in Alnwick. The Hog's Head Inn Hawfinch Drive, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 461175

Located on the outskirts of Alnwick by the main petrol station and McDonalds, the Hog's Head Inn serves as a great stopping point for refresehments. The decor is stylish and comfortable and the food traditional pub fayre with a highly recommended Sunday Carvery. Grannies Delicatessen 18 Narrowgate, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 602 394

Somewhat of a gastronomic curiosity, at first glance Grannies appears to be a crowded shop almost overflowing with weird and wonderful boxes, jars and sweets. See past this though and you will find a Cafe that celebrates it's local area in the best possible way, by offering it's finest produce at a reasonable price. From sandwiches to Northumberland cheeses, Craster smoked salmon to local ice cream, it's all found here. Downstairs in the cellar there is a seating area to discover all that this wonderful little place has to offer.

Ever popular with tourists and locals alike, Baileys is centrally located in Alnwick and is one of the best places to stop for breakfast or a quick lunch in the Town.

Copperfields 11 Market Street, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 605555

Copperfields has become our favourite place in Alnwick for breakfasts, from a full english to a quick bacon and egg sarnie you really can't go wrong. The lunches are canteen style and absolutely delicious. You'll always get a hearty meal at Copperfields.

Flower Cafe (Pictured above) 24 Fenkle Street, Alnwick, Northumberland

An oasis of calm in a busy town which can be accessed via Fenkle Street or Narrowgate. The Flower Cafe offers artisan coffees, cakes, pastries and a "bloom" of flavours! Melvyn's Cafe 10 Market Place, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 604462

Right in the middle of the action, Melvyn's Cafe sits in the beautiful Market Place in Alnwick. With plenty of outdoor seating its always a tourist hot spot serving hearty breakfasts and lunches in the sunshine (well on those good days when the weather behaves!) The Strawberry Lounge Narrowgate, Alnwick, Northumberland

Fast becoming Alnwick's best hidden treasure, The Strawberry Lounge is located down an alleyway off Narrowgate. Don't let this put you off though, some of the finest treasures are to be found off the beaten track, the entrance to the alley is usually marked with an oversized wooden bear. Also known as a smoothie bar, this Cafe has wonderfully friendly staff and is especially well known for it's simply delicious home-made scones and top quality coffee. Make hunting the Strawberry Lounge down one of your top priorities!

Bars

Tanners Arms 2-4 Hotspur Place, Alnwick, Northumberland

Small but perfectly formed! The Tanners Arms is a local Pub, but you will always find a friendly welcome here. It is a small place, not much larger than a living room and operates around it's Jukebox, which is a rocker's haven. There's a great selection of beers on tap, in fact it might be the best pint in Alnwick!

Backyard Beach Club (Pictured above) 28 Narrowgate, Alnwick, Northumberland

From the same people that brought you the fantastic Dirty Bottles, the Backyard Beach Club is a new concept for Alnwick. A really cool huge outdoor space with giant TV's, bars, arcade games and often live music. There's cover for when the weather isn't behaving and heaters for when it gets cooler. This place really is a vibe and definitely worth a visit as they often have pop up food on offer from BBQ's to Pizza etc. In the winter it transforms to Backyard Bavaria! Full of festive delights. Pig in Muck Market Place, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 808079

Handily located in the Market Place, the Pig in Muck has a few seats indoors but really its all about enjoying the iconic marketplace with its outside tables. When the sun shines the Pig in Muck is one of the best places to sit, enjoy a pint or a cocktail and watch the world go by.

Harry's Bar Narrowgate, Alnwick, Northumberland

A friendly and relaxed drinking spot in the ever popular Narrowgate region of Alnwick. This is a popular micro-brewery serving ales and whiskies daily along with their favourite Northern Soul and Mowtwon hits! Find out more at the Harry's Bar Facebook page...

Carlo's Fish and Chips 7-9 Market Street, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 602 787

The Fish and Chips at Carlo's are extremely highly rated with locals and I certainly would never consider buying them from anywhere else when i'm in the area. Their gravy and the spicy chip shop curry sauce in particular is absolutely stunning! Visit their website for more information.

Lovely Pizza delivered to your door or available for collection. Some of the best pizza that you can get from a takeaway, our favourite is their pepperoni and the Royale Special! They have an online ordering facility on their website.

Pizza Rosso 25 Bondgate Within, Alnwick, Northumberland - 01665 606000

Really good thin base pizzas and home to the best parmesans in town (in our humble opinion!). If you haven't heard of this northern delicacy make sure you give it a try, thinly battered, breadcrumbed chicken topped with white sauce, cheese and your choice of toppings... delicious! There are several chinese takeaways in Alnwick but we have always found Yan's to be our favourite. They have a dine in restaurant that is also open during the busier months of the tourist season.
